Control Mouse Pointer by your Hand or Hand Gestures using NPointer

You might astonish when you read today’s post title. But Yes, it is true; you can control Mouse Pointer by your hand or Hand Gesture with the help of a software that is based on Neurotechnology. The name of that software is NPointer.

NPointer is software which allows you to control Mouse Pointer just by your hand or hand movements. NPointer allows the user to control Standard Windows Programs by enabling the user to scroll, click, double – click, drag and navigate around the computer screen using hand movements. NPointer records hand or hand movements through webcam, and translate them into mouse pointer movement. NPointer requires optimal webcam positioning for accurate cursor control, especially if you are aiming to use hand movements on a table surface. Make sure that the camera is pointed towards your hand, firmly mounted on a higher surface. The software itself resides in the System Tray  without intercepting your workflow.

Before use this application, you should set parameters such as Motion speed, Acceleration, Menu timeout, and Movement cut – off. You can adjust these parameters with the help of settings console. Now some details about these parameters, Motion speed is used to control how fast the pointer  moves in reaction to your hand, Acceleration is used to adjust the pointer’s acceleration level, Menu timeout is used to specify the idle time before the on screen action menu appears, Movement cut – off is used to adjust the frequency of ignoring those movements. Now start your application and control your mouse pointer through your hand or hand gestures. Keep your hand still for a time (greater than menu timeout time) will activate the menu that enables you to choose the action you want to perform: double click, scroll wheel, left or right click, toggle drag or turn of the movements.

NPointer works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

NPointer is available for free to use.
